OUR PRICING
His products seem expensive? Why?  All of Piet Hein Eek’s products are hand-fabricated in his workshop in the Netherlands. Each piece is unique, and they are not replicable with industrial production processes. Even most of the hardware is fabricated in Piet Hein’s workshop. The value in Piet Hein’s work is that the pieces are designed and built to last a lifetime, in style and function. Like many products coming from Europe, the present decline in the US Dollar has made Piet Hein Eek’s work more expensive recently.

Why do I have to put down a deposit?  Piet Hein Eek’s products are made to order. We place an order with Piet at the time you place your order with us. Eek requires a deposit prior to production. The remainder of the balance will be charged upon shipment. If you pay by credit card, we will charge your account when the product leaves our warehouse. For payments by check, we will contact you for final payment prior to shipping your order.

Will I be taxed?  Sales tax will be collected on all shipments to California addresses.

DELIVERY
How much will delivery be?  We estimate that it will be 25% of the retail price. Our pricing is transparent—we do not mark up our shipping costs.

How quickly will my order arrive?  This furniture is made to order at Piet Hein Eek’s factory in Geldrop, Holland.  Orders are consolidated to reduce shipping costs and ensure safe transit, which may result in longer lead times. Items we have in stock will arrive within 7-10 days with standard shipping, 2-4 weeks for inside delivery.

Does my furniture come assembled?  Most pieces come assembled. Limited assembly is required on some pieces, but this is very simple.  The larger pieces are heavy and require more than one body to unpack and move.

Will all my items arrive at the same time?  Yes, they will.  If your order includes items we have on hand and items shipping from Holland, we will ship items in stock immediately unless you request a single shipment.

RETURNS + EXCHANGES
What if I don’t like what I bought?  We go to great lengths to describe and photograph each piece for accuracy. This is why we do not have automated ordering online and why we encourage you to contact us by phone. We will work with you to ensure that you know what you are getting prior to placing an order with us.  Each piece is carefully packed and often crated to reduce the risk of damage. In the case that there is shipping damage we need to hear from you immediately.

How do you handle returns and exchanges?  Please notify us within 30 days. We will issue a Return Authorization number, which must be included with the product return. Once the product is received at our warehouse we will issue a refund less deposit or applicable restocking fee and shipping costs. Returns on shipped orders incur return shipping charges and original shipping fees are non-refundable.

What if my item arrives damaged?  We take great care with packaging and shipping to reduce the risk of damage. Still, there are occasions when damage does occur. Please inspect all deliveries upon arrival and notify us immediately at 415-896-0123 to report damage. We will work with you to resolve the issue.
If the crate or packaging is obviously damaged upon arrival, please note the damage when signing for your item or refuse delivery. In the event that damage or defect is noticed after unpacking, we ask that you retain the original packaging materials and contact us to arrange a truck pick-up. Studio Forbes must be contacted within three days of delivery to file a claim for damaged goods. Due to the hand-fabricated nature of Piet Hein Eek’s products, items not in stock may take several months to replace.

Can I cancel my order?  Orders can be cancelled within 48 hours of placement. (Please call us). Since Piet Hein Eek’s furniture is made-to-order, cancellations post-production will result in the forfeit of your deposit. On shipped orders, shipping and handling charges are non-refundable. Please no cancellations on custom orders, but if there are extraordinary circumstances we’d be happy to discuss these with you.
